Edinburgh Yarn Festival is one of the most renowned festival of knitting in the world, appreciated not only for their great offer of stalls and events, but for the core values of sociality and inclusion shared with their community of knitters.
People from all over the world come to Edinburgh’s Corn Exchange to meet fellow knitters and bring home suitcases of quality yarn and merchandise.
I Met Jo and Mica a few months before the 2019 festival was due. After years of managing everything themselves, they had decided to define their corporate image by hiring a professional, and I was lucky enough to be the one!
We started by refreshing the logo by keeping the black sheep and rainbow but making it look more defined and realistic. We also found a better fitting font and modified it so it would complement the logo perfectly.
They also wanted to complete their image with “something that would help in enriching all the signs and other corporate elements” at the event. So I suggested an icon set with images of knitting objects, mixed with Edinburgh elements. We then used this as a repeat pattern background for flyers, banners and other marketing materials.
